A strong quake struck western Argentina early today collapsing many adobe homes near San Juan. At least 50 people died and hundreds were wounded as 80 percent of rural dwellings in outskirts areas were demolished. Government sent emergency medical supplies by air. San Juan airport runway was cracked.
