Death from Queens gum factory blast confirmed
A blast and flash fire at American Chicle in Long Island City killed 34 year old Samuel Reyekum of Brooklyn as 55 workers were injured. The four floor explosion sent molten gum and debris into the street. 25 burned severely with many requiring treatment out of state due to local burn unit shortages.
