Partly cloudy with lake effect snow flurries and a low near 20 tonight. Wednesday brings increasing clouds and a chance of late snow with highs around 30. Extended outlook shows Thanksgiving Day sun with flurries and a high near 30, then Friday snow chances, then sunny but cold Saturday.
Snow continues in central New York with lingering flurries and cold nights. Temperatures dip to near 20 as clouds persist into Wednesday and Thanksgiving day. Parts of Seattle and Maine report rain while Michigan issues a winter storm warning with up to a foot of snow possible. Strong winds gusting to 44 mph damage aircraft at JFK and Newark airports injuring a worker.
President Bush defended U S military aid to El Salvador after protesters questioned U S involvement following the slayings of six Jesuit priests. He insisted the aid supports democracy and noted Salvadoran President Cristiani’s government is pursuing democratic reforms amid security risks.

Snowfall totals include 1.5 inches Monday and 3.2 inches for November, with season snow at 161.2 inches in 1977-78 and November precipitation at 2.42 inches. Wind data shows northwest winds from 18 mph to 100 mph at various altitudes, amid scattered garbled notes and contact lines.
Gale warning for Lake Ontario with westerly winds 20-30 knots and snow. Waves reach 5-7 feet tonight, 57 feet is noted erroneously. By Wednesday winds shift to southerly 10-20 knots and diminish to 3-5 feet later. St Lawrence shows southerly 10-20 knots with scattered nuries overnight and again Wednesday with similar winds and scattered nuries.
