Snow and rain paralyzed travel for hundreds heading to the Cornell Syracuse game. Weather slowed motorists to 16 to 20 mph as blizzard conditions created mushy fields and wet tarpaulins. Meteorologists warned of intermittent snow through Sunday with temperatures dropping to the mid 20s.
A 136 day strike by 22,000 workers at eight Bethlehem shipyards along the Atlantic coast ended after an all night session with union and company leaders and Federal mediators. The agreement covers most plants except Patapsco Scrap Company in Fairfield Maryland where 900 workers remain on strike.

Jubilant poultrymen hailed the end of poultryless Thursday and urged higher consumption. They pledged to save 56 million bushels of grain by trimming flocks and faced selling 136 million birds before January 1 as cold storage sits full.
