UPI reports four members of a family were killed when a two story frame house near Clayton burned early today. Deputies identified the victims as Leonard and others in the family.
Attorneys for North Syracuse Schools planned to seek a temporary restraining order in State Supreme Court to compel teachers back to work as the district faces a strike across 13 schools. Judge Tenney will decide on the petition while union officials report about 80 percent of teachers participating and attendance dipping to 58 percent.
Campaigns across Onondaga County press for high turnout as President Ford and Jimmy Carter boosts loom. Volunteers phone voters, offer rides, and polls open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. with races for district attorney and state senate key. One proposition on the ballot on-track betting debate.

The Supreme Court refused to hear arguments by the Human Life Amendment Group seeking review of the New Jersey Supreme Court ruling that allowed removal of life support from Karen Quinlan. The group representatives had no party status in the state case and sought guidance on judicial control of comatose patients.
