Buffalo mom charged after leaving 1 year old for carnival
Melissa Healy 21 faced one count of child abandonment and two counts of endangering a child after leaving her infant with friends to join a carnival in south Buffalo. The child was placed with county CPS as police investigated and Healy awaited Friday court appearance.

Police say a single man may be responsible for two assaults on the Manhattan Upper East Side within ten minutes. The first occurred at 11:59 a.m. on East 92nd Street and Lewington Avenue as a woman in her 20s entered her building. he grabbed her arm and fled after she screamed. The second took place at 12:08 p.m. on 93rd Street and Fifth Avenue when he followed another woman into her building and sexually assaulted her before fleeing.

Staten Island girl 13 charged in baby's death
A 13 year old Staten Island girl whose newborn son was found dead in a bathroom bucket was charged with manslaughter. The baby died after being hit and suffocated with clothing and a bag. She reportedly hid the pregnancy from her family and delivered at home before disposing of the infant. The parents moved her to a hospital when she began bleeding, and police later found the newborn.
