White House warns Starr over broad records request
Independent counsel seeks Clinton records of activities and whereabouts on dates tied to Lewinsky probe. White House opposes broad scope arguing it covers national security and unrelated matters. Prosecutors aim to reconstruct possible contacts involving Lewinsky and aides and whether Clinton or Vernon Jordan urged lies or helped Lewinsky find counsel. White House spokesmen dismiss Starr’s usual expansive demands as irrelevant.
