Stevenson Wins Narrow Florida Primary Nose

Adlai Stevenson edged Sen Estes Kefauver in Florida’s Democratic presidential primary with 212217 to 204819 unofficially as 1680 of 1778 precincts reported. Stevenson claimed 22 convention votes to Kefauver’s 6 while both sought California’s 68 convention delegates. Eisenhower’s GOP victory in Florida key but less contested. Stevenson thanked Florida voters and noted the results underscored his nomination effort.

Liverpool machine shop owner Frank A. Penner and Hopkins Road resident Frank Lis faced traffic charges after a head on crash on Hiawatha Boulevard. Lis, 42, was the 87th drunken driving arrest this year and expected in Traffic Court tomorrow. Lis suffered scalp cuts and bruises and was treated at St. Joseph's Hospital. Penner escaped injury and was not hurt in the collision.

Drunk man in city cell stricken with spinal meningitis

Ten city police officers received medical treatment after contact with an unidentified man arrested for public intoxication.
