Bush salutes courage of soldiers on Memorial Day

President Bush urged Americans to honor Memorial Day by remembering the heroism and losses of war. In a radio address taped before a weekend at Camp David he said he would host a White House breakfast for veterans who knew those who did not return. He noted that victory depends on the actions of the fighting servicemen and praised their courage. He cited his own and his father’s service and pledged continued debt to veterans. After the breakfast he would lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns before flying to Mesa, Arizona for another Memorial Day observance.
