Moisture may trigger scattered thunderstorms with a risk of severe storms. Drier conditions expected later in the week as system moves out.
The Associated Press reports showers and thunderstorms in the East this morning causing problems, while the West remains mostly clear. Unusually warm conditions are noted as parts of the Plains could see record high temperatures.
The forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms across the Plains and East as a cold front moves in. Scattered severe storms possible with large hail and gusty winds, especially in the Great Lakes, Northeast, Ohio and Tennessee valleys, and Gulf Coast regions. Temperatures vary from 50s in the Northeast to 90s in the Southeast and Southwest, with record heat possible in the Plains and a 113F high in Palm Springs.
