Bonn reports Adenauer and Western Allies resolved key financial terms in a 13 hour session, agreeing on monthly defense funding of about 50 million marks. The pact is to grant West Germany near sovereignty and end occupation, with ratification pending in the U S Senate and allied parliaments. ministers plan a Six nation army accord talks in Strasbourg to finish interim force rules and treaty duration.

Syracuse enginemen firemen and conductors on the New York Central get lump sum payments from 600 to 1100 dollars under a contract signed by carriers and three rail unions. About 150000 rail workers are affected. Yard workers gain roughly 2473 cents an hour and train crews 11 cents more per hour. White House says Truman will move to end government seizure of railroads. This closes a three year wage dispute.
U S Fifth Air Force fighter bombers led an hour by hour strike against a vast Communist war materiel area between Pyongyang and Chinnanpo destroying 117 buildings and damaging 80 more. First Marine Aircraft Wing and Royal Australian Air Force 77th Squadron joined the air assault. Ground forces reported heavy shelling and tank moves along a 20 mile central front with the 40th Division leading the assault, blasting bunkers and other fortifications.
In Cleveland Ohio an embarrassed store official announces a $100 reward for the return of a gold plated diamond and ruby studded can opener used for advertising. The item was mixed with normal openers during a bargain day sale and delivered to a customer.
General Van Fleet said the Koje Island POW camp near Busan is close to complete control under Brig. Gen. Haydon Boatner. Communists hold the compounds after seizing the camp commander two weeks ago, with Rose Camp 17 under the same siege for weeks and no entry by staff since May 7.
General Matthew Ridgway told Congress the false Communist charges against the United Nations hint the Reds themselves may plan germ and gas warfare. He said the UN army in Korea is ready for any mission and stands proud and defiant.
