Ship death toll rises to 37 in Stark missile attack
Naval officers in Adams Center learned that Robert Shippee, 35, son of Richard and Mfreda Shippee, was killed aboard the USS Stark in the Iraq missile strike. Shippee, a senior chief petty officer, was from Jefferson County and based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Other servicemen from Watertown and near Utica were listed as uninjured. two listed as missing were reportedly on the "armoured last" hotline.
