Syracuse University plans $1 billion endowment driven expansion
SU trustees approved a $180 million bond issue with $150 million for the project and $35 million fundraising. The plan adds 80,000 to 100,000 square feet to the School of Management, grows the Center for Science and Technology by 130,000, and expands E.S. Bird Library by 80,000. Enrollment and operating costs rise. design and planning span 18 months with phase two and three dependent on phase one decisions. Local officials praise the move as a boost for city development and jobs.
