Drowns as wife watches near Port Leyden dam
Charles R. White, 36, of Moose River Road, Port Leyden, drowned after his boat lost power on the Black River. His wife Vanita saw him disappear as the craft went over a dam beside South Lewis Elementary School. Francis Wilcox helped recover the body about three hours after the noon accident.
