Real estate developer arrested in California fraud case

John Peter Galanis, a 44 year old Syracuse University graduate, was arrested in Del Mar California on a 7 count indictment in a real estate scam. He allegedly defrauded about 1400 investors using tax shelters and investments tied to the failed Atlantic City project. Syracuse Savings Bank faced an $11.4 million 1986 loss and was sold to Norstar Bank of Central New York for 100 million dollars on the day of his arrest.
