A late May snowstorm ends at 11:24 AM with no further snow in sight. Officials warn of a killing frost tonight as temperatures dip to 26 to 28 degrees, risking fruit crops. Local records note a May low of 26.4 in 1903 and snow totals of 1.9 inches.
Two men died after being struck by New York Central trains in the East Syracuse area. Roger Burton, 31, of East Second Street East Syracuse was found on the tracks near the overpass around 2 A.M. today. Hugh Patrick O Neil, 56, of Merriman Avenue was killed instantly by an eastbound train at Midway about a mile east of East Syracuse at 7 30 P.M. Wednesday. An engineer saw Burton's body as he moved his engine in the yards. Sheriff s office and New York authorities investigate.
The House begins voting on the Greco Turkish aid bill with the Truman doctrine at stake. A key amendment seeks to refer the whole matter to the United Nations after Senate approval.

The move follows the party’s January election gains, with 800000 votes and deputies and state-level wins. President Dutra also suspended the Brazil Workers Confederation and affiliated unions for six months.
In Tokyo General MacArthur stated the Allies would protect Japan until a peace treaty is signed, but denied pledging future U.S. defense. The remark followed his Tuesday meeting with Emperor Hirohito and was not elaborated on by Allied Headquarters or Japanese officials.

Six railroad workers were injured today when a westbound Baltimore and Ohio engine and caboose were side swiped by an eastbound train in Philadelphia. Police said the eastbound engine ran through an open switch and struck the side of the westbound locomotive, tipping the caboose.
