NY welfare agency overtime tops $1 million for carpenters
Twenty carpenters and other workers at New York City’s Human Resources Administration earned over 1 million dollars in overtime last year. An audit by City Comptroller Alan Hevesi found salaries doubled and 15 staff members earning above 100000 by bypassing time clocks and approval, as overtime rose to 46 million versus a 17 million budget. Barrios Paoli said procedures were loosened, a cap on overtime was set, and a manager was demoted this year.
