Roots Run Deep in Taunton and Beyond
Bertha Smith grew up along Bellevue Avenue in Taunton where farms once lined the outskirts of town. The Strong/Day family roots trace to 1838 Onondaga County and farm life in Taunton, with Bertha later working as a BOCES bookkeeper and recalling Fay Road and brick No 29 schoolhouse memories.

Taunton memories and changes in a central New York town
Bertha and Gwynn Morey recount Taunton's past from 1802 school origins to 1965 demolition for expansion. They describe old landmarks on Onondaga Boulevard, the Grand Avenue area, new homes in the 1930s, and family businesses like the Moreys and Filkins. Gwynn notes changes in cider production and a planned bypass avoided, while residents reflect on community evolution and local landmarks.
