Richard Hughes 79 of Erieville dies after long illness
Richard Hughes 79 of State Road Erieville died April 23 at Mariner Health Carr Grange City Florida after a long illness. He was born in Nelson and lived in Erieville his whole life. A 1936 Morrisville High School and 1938 Utica School of Commerce graduate, he worked 29 years for the Madison County Highway Department retiring in 1979. A Navy Seabee veteran, he spent winters in Dellona Florida and was active in Cazenovia Village Baptist Church F and A M Lodge 616 and the Deltona Shuffleboard Club. Surviving are his wife Louise Hughes two sons Carl R of Ferndale Washington Wade B of Erieville a daughter Genelle Peebles of Skaneateles seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services 7 pm Thursday at Cazenovia Village Baptist Church Rev Lois Yeagel officiating. Burial Welsh Church Cemetery Nelson.
