50 50 Rain Chance Damp Weekend Forecast

A National Weather Service forecaster at Hancock Airport predicts a 50 percent chance of rain tonight with scattered showers through the weekend. Lows near 45 to 50 tonight, highs around 75 tomorrow. Sunday through Tuesday show scattered showers through Monday and fair skies Tuesday, with daily lows near 50 Sunday and Monday and 35 to 40 Tuesday. Highs expected from 65 down to 50s.

Shelling resumes in Shouf mountains amid Beirut alert

Shelling resumed in the Shouf mountains east of Beirut after President Amin Gemayel ordered troops on alert and demanded an end to Syrian interference. Official Beirut Radio said fighting between rightist Christian factions and Syrian-backed Muslim leftists killed at least eight civilians and wounded 25 yesterday.

Hitler diaries forged say German officials and experts

West Germany experts tested three of 62 volumes claimed as Adolf Hitler diaries and concluded they are forged. Interior Minister Friederich Zimmermann said the material could not come from Hitler and was produced after the war. Stern magazine, which published excerpts, and the Sunday Times said they would reassess plans. Federal Archives and its partners examined three volumes in Frankfurt.

Unemployment dips as 360000 jobs added in April

The U S civilian unemployment rate fell to 10.2 percent in April as about 360000 jobs were created, with employment rising to over 99 4 million. Adult women gained, while adult men saw a slight rise in joblessness, and average work hours reached 40.1 per week the highest since 1981.

Kidnapper Harris Released Quietly After Hearst Case
