British gain high ground on Arakan road amid Burma front push
Allied communique says British troops advanced onto hills overlooking the Buthidaung Maungdaw road in Arakan after heavy fighting, preserving coastal highway control. In northern Burma, Allied forces repelled two Japanese attacks in the Mogaung valley as Kohima Imphal front quieted. Royal Air Force bombers sank a submarine southwest of Socotra Island off Italian Somaliland coast during recon patrols.

Kennedy Heiress to Wed Lord Hartington in London
Kathleen Kennedy 24 daughter of former U S Ambassador Joseph Kennedy and Lord Hartington elder son of the Duke of Devonshire announced engagement in The Times of London. They have been friends since 1935 with Hartington returning to the army after a Commons defeat and serving in the Coldstream Guards.

Stewart Awarded DFC for Leadership in Raid Over Brunswick
Maj James Stewart receives the Distinguished Flying Cross for leadership in the February 20 raid on Nazi aircraft factories at Brunswick Germany. The former Hollywood star piloted the first bomber over the target amid heavy anti air fire. he later remarked on the award ceremony in an empty hangar. Stewart has recently been promoted to operations officer of a Liberator group and already holds the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster for prior exploits.
