Hollywood star Buckeye draws two celebs to event

A large St Bernard named Buckeye drew attention from two Hollywood figures last night. Anson Williams was honored by the Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as a friend and animal advocate, with Betty White presenting the humanitarian award. Vanessa Redgrave offered readings and a dance in Boston amid protests from around 20 PLO supporters outside the Orpheum Theater. She performed with Tennessee Williams, while theater attendance was low. Elizabeth Taylor canceled a performance of The Little Foxes after her secretary collapsed, with Victoria Palace Theatre in limbo over the show's future. Radio commentator Paul Harvey urged ERA ratification, criticizing perceived gender inequality and urging four states to act.

Land assault imminent from short airstrips and Harrier support

The analysis notes hastily built 300 yard airstrips could host ground attacks aided by 20 more Harriers aboard a requisitioned freighter. Argentina lacks comparable aircraft for Falkland operations and its Mirage interceptors require long runways, while the Pacara turboprop can use short grass strips but is slower. Port Stanley absence limits Argentine reach and duration over the battle area.
