Waiting for Guffman stars waited long for roles
Stephen Whitty notes that Fred Willard recalls Christopher Guest inviting him to co star in Waiting for Guffman opening in Syracuse. The film features Eugene Levy and Catharine O Hara and relies on improvisation. Willard praises the ensemble, while Guest and Levy shaped the concept and the film satirizes a Midwestern town’s effusive sesquicentennial celebration.
