State court suspends judge in rape case
A visiting judge J Quint Salmon, who dismissed a rape case due to a late trial appearance by a 14 year old girl, is relieved of his Allegheny County assignment by Chief Justice Robert Nix. The move follows discussions with the full court as an investigation is opened into the trial judge and the prosecutor in Commonwealth v Geoffrey Adams. Salmon, 77, had been aiding Beaver and Allegheny County caseloads and had previously overruled his decision to reinstate charges amid public protests.
