Winter storm coats Georgia with wet heavy snow
A spring storm dumped wet heavy snow across Georgia and New York areas, bringing power outages for Utica and Rome and triggering dozens of accidents. National Weather Service meteorologist Kirk Lombardy notes the snow is unusually wet for this time of year, increasing shoveling strain and heart risk. The Weather event occurred around 6 30am Saturday with additional incidents along interstates 81 and 690 near Syracuse. The Heart Run Walk at Syracuse University drew about 2 300 participants, with roughly 1 000 running outdoors despite the conditions, while volunteers and runners praised the effort and camaraderie. Authorities report one Hamilton County injury and several minor collisions, plus a short road closure near Community General Hospital.
