Reporter ordered to testify in Belushi case
In Los Angeles a municipal court judge ordered National Enquirer reporter Anthony Brenna to testify at Cathy Evelyn Smith's preliminary hearing. The judge rejected a bid to dismiss the subpoena, citing the potential value of interviews and notes. Prosecutors say the Enquirer tapes, including Smith saying I killed John Belushi, are essential. Belushi, star of SNL, died March 5, 1982 from heroin and cocaine. Smith, 38, was later charged with murder and narcotics offenses. The hearing to decide evidence sufficiency is set for April 30.
