Skaneateles nurse named Central New York Distinction recipient

Gilberta Trani a 73 year old home health nurse from Skaneateles has been named Central New York Nurse of Distinction for 1994. She is among eight nurses statewide honored from 394 nominations. Trani, who returned to nursing five years ago, visits eight to ten patients daily and says home care offers a fresh perspective and unique challenges. Her supervisor praises her listening and caring abilities. The award program honors nurses and is limited to one nominee per facility.

Tragedy Strikes Oswego Family After Icy Crash

Mount Pleasant residents Donald Kennedy and Tammie Trepasso face unimaginable loss as their three daughters Alyssa Ashley and Kara Kennedy died in a Wine Creek crash. Regents to revise AIDS guide for comprehensive HIV prevention

The New York State Board of Regents voted to rewrite the 1987 AIDS teaching guide to include condom use and other prevention methods. Critics had urged more comprehensive instruction beyond abstinence, with Health Commissioner Mark R. Chassin calling for a clearer, updated approach.
