A chartered Northwest Airlines DC-4 with 38 aboard disappeared after 10:05 p.m. as it neared Alaska on the Great Circle route from Shanghai to New York. A CAA search plane headed to 16,208-foot Mt Sanford after a night fire sighting near Nabesna Pass. The last contact was at 11:03 p.m. near the Gulkana range station with good visibility reported this morning.
