Carey Declines To Name Gubernatorial Endorsement
Gov. Hugh Carey dodged naming a favored Democratic gubernatorial candidate while in Rochester for the unveiling of a $49 million downtown convention center. He said he had none in mind, criticized certain lieutenant governors, and avoided commenting on Mayor Koch or Cuomo. The project aims to spur Rochester’s economy, with construction to start this summer and finish by late 1984 or early 1985, creating about 500 jobs during build and additional post completion employment.
