Toxic waste site in New Hampshire closed by court order
Northern New England's only legal toxic waste treatment facility has been shut by a court. A Rockingham Superior Court master barred Keefe Environmental Services from accepting more toxic waste and placed a $3.5 million attachment on the 11 acre site. EPA crews pumped about 300,000 gallons from the overflowing lagoon, reducing level by about 3% feet. The remaining cleanup, including 6,000 steel drums, could cost about $3 million and the operation is billed at about $60,000.
