Californias heavy rains flood Santa Barbara Hollywood and Ventura causing road closures landslides and evacuations. Water filled homes with up to a foot depth while trains slowed under high water and power lines were cut a dozen cities reported rainfall up to two inches in four hours. February brought the wettest conditions in 57 years as storms move inland with more showers forecast through midweek.

Italian forces report heavy artillery and repulse British attacks west of Gondar

The High Command said Italians fired heavy artillery and repelled British assaults west of Gondar in Northern Ethiopia. Elsewhere in East Africa actions were limited to patrols and artillery. Italian warplanes shot down three enemy aircraft on attacks against Greek bases in Albania, with two Italian planes missing. No ground operations in Albania were noted.
