Eight hurt as deck collapses during bridal shower in Marcellus
Seven women and a child were injured when a second story deck at 4648 Goldrush Drive collapsed during a bridal shower in Marcellus. The deck landed eight feet from the house as bystanders described the incident before 3 pm. Denise Garn Erica White and Erin Guilfell received treatment at Community General Hospital for bumps and bruises while Jill McClary 24 of Cazenovia and Margaret Callas were listed in fair condition with knee and leg injuries at area hospitals. One woman refused treatment.

Syracuse woman to get bone marrow transplant without court fight
A Syracuse woman, Madeline Berkley Stockweather, will receive a bone marrow transplant in Rochester this week after HMO CNY Inc agreed to cover costs estimated at 3100,000 to 150,000. Lawyer Edward Z. Menkin had secured a court order to compel payment, arguing the denial blocked a virtually life saving treatment for breast cancer. The dispute was resolved Friday with the insurer agreeing to pay.

Art Exhibit at Loretto Center in Albany area
An elderly artists exhibition travels to Loretto Center at 700 E Baghton Ave from Wednesday to 17.
