Colleges ignore history as test shows weak knowledge
A study by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni finds 30 percent of seniors at top colleges and 455 schools lack graduation requirements in American history. Only 22 percent require any history courses, with Harvard and Princeton among those not enforcing a history credit. The test, given by phone to 556 seniors, shows gaps in knowledge of the Constitution and founding figures.
