Court term remarkably venom free across Supreme Court term
Washington reports that the 1996 97 Supreme Court term closed with a notable absence of harsh rhetoric among justices. Key rulings covered doctor assisted death religious freedom sexual predators and racial policies, with no public invective or insinuations that colleagues could not be taken seriously. Reduced workload may have boosted congeniality as the court held 80 signed rulings versus 440 in the 1980s.
