Episcopal Church Is Dedicated in North Syracuse
The St. Thomas Episcopal Church in North Syracuse was dedicated by Bishop Malcolm E. Peabody and Suffragan Bishop Welter M. Higley. Rev. Richard B M Morris was appointed in charge, starting Sept. 1, succeeding missionary Rev. Paul B Miller. Ground was broken Oct 19 of last year for the building, now a 40 by 80 foot modern American structure housing 250 in the post office basement and a World War I Navy barracks. Open house followed at the social hall with a reception sponsored by the Women’s Auxiliary. The church serving about 150 members in the Oneida district covers Syracuse and nearby areas, with services previously held in rented or donated spaces. The building is part of a long effort in central New York to establish the church’s presence in the region.
