An early morning blaze at the six story Saranac Hotel in Saranac Lake killed William Frost 84 a permanent resident. Forty five guests and nine employees were evacuated with six injured one firefighter hospitalized. Philip Morris parent Miller Brewing Co will build a 34.1 million glass container plant on a 200 acre site in Sennett north of Auburn. President John A. Murphy says 250 workers will be employed and annual payroll will reach 4.4 million.
