During a routine test from Buffalo Municipal Airport an Army Bell Airacuda twin engined craft crashed on a farm near East Aurora. Italians raid Allied bases and sink three ships with several killed and wounded including doctors nurses and patients. An enemy plane was shot down by naval anti aircraft batteries. In East Africa actions occurred at Sudan port and Kenyan blockhouses. An English plane was shot down during an enemy raid on Dire Dawa. Raids across metropolitan Italy and Sicily caused damage in cities like Turin and Leghorn with no casualties.
The High Command said local engagements occurred south of the Loire near Montcontour Ligue Chatillon Sur Indre and St Etinne Poanne. Italian forces repelled Alpine Front attacks and German units were driven back along the Rhone near Annanes where Spahis defeated a battalion with tanks. Italian assaults toward the Alps failed.
French forces repulsed a noon German attack and drove troops from Bellegarde near the Lecluse Fort, the Gibraltar of the Rhone, as refugees reported the town and fortifications briefly held then regained control.
