Parties Fail To Circulate Petitions In Major Election Delay
The first day for circulating petitions for the Sept. Gomen election passed with no party endorsing candidates. Republican Democratic and American Labor Parties have not named nominees, while independents are absent. Petitions for mayor and 50+ county and city posts will follow after party committee endorsements. The Legislature set today for petition circulation and Aug 2 for filing. The mayor post drew 2,600 signatures, about five percent of the party enrollments.
