Royalty funded desert rail line from Dammam to Punydh
Oil royalties finance a 252 mile Saudi Arabia railway from Dammam to the capital Punydh. The $35 million project, begun four years ago, advances at about half a mile daily and aims for completion in roughly four months. The line ferries oil towns Dharan Abquaiq and Ain Haradih and includes 15 locomotives and 570 cars.

Fleeing Driver Fined and Licenses Revoked in Syracuse Crash
A Syracuse motorist, John Bobik, 54, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident after striking a 16 year old bicyclist. He was fined 200 on the main charge and 10 on two related counts, and his license was revoked. The victim, a properly licensed rider from Onondaga Valley Academy, suffered head and chest injuries but later survived. Several other injuries were reported in separate crashes, including a 23 year old woman hurt at Onondaga and South Avenue and a three year old with minor ride injuries, all treated at local hospitals.
