Misfits From Austria Sent Into Battle
In a Russian prison camp near Kharkov three Austrians and Romanians share war ordeals. Josef Lanz a Vienna chemical worker and Leopold Schmied a hotel cook describe Nazi conscription, labor shifts, and fear for families as they face captivity. Romanian officers note orders over a bleak mood among Moldavian and Walachian soldiers who only want to go home.
