OCC President seeks 40.9 million budget boost for 3.4 percent rise

Onondaga Community College President Debbie L Sydow will present a 40.9 million budget this morning asking county lawmakers to approve a 3.4 percent spending increase and a 250000 boost in annual county contributions bringing OCC to 79 million. The increase funds cost of living and upgrades to computer infrastructure as enrollment remains sluggish. County CFO Joe Marcane agrees the rise is tied to enrollment, noting as enrollment grows the county share will decline. The budget goes to the Ways and Means Committee before full Legislature, marking Sydow’s first budget and a step toward stronger college county relations and a more tech focused campus with new programs.
