Survivors recall showboat tragedy on Pomona Lake
Five years after the Whippoorwill capsized during a June 17 1978 show on Lake Pomona 16 people died. Survivors recall the chaos as a waterspout struck the vessel killing Grace Vogel Sandy Vogel and Melissa Wright among the dead. The tragedy spurred a state inspection law for passenger boats and settlements totaling about 2.3 million dollars.
