Storm toll mounts as guards patrol across states
National Guardsmen patrolled streets from Minnesota to Ohio as violent storms flushed tornadoes, floods, and outages. Casualties topped 23 deaths with hundreds of homes damaged and thousands left without power. In Minnesota, three twisters near Minneapolis St. Paul injured nearly 150, while Roseville suffered severest damage at Har Mar Shopping Center. Ohio towns Ottawa and Findlay faced 6 foot flood surges prompting state emergency. Guard deployment followed. Texas floods killed several and swept people from Pedernales River, with search ongoing. Across Illinois Indiana and Pennsylvania, boats sank, drownings occurred, and rescues continued as coast guard and police coordinated responses.
