A 13-year-old Rome girl, Margaret A. Muscarella, died after touching a malfunctioning refrigerator in her parents garage. Investigators say the 110-volt unit, used by her father for storing live bait at a sporting goods store, shorted and acted as a ground, causing electrocution as she left a backyard pool. She was an honor student at Strough Junior High and died at Rome City Hospital. Authorities rule accidental death.
