Cesspool death spurs plea for inspections
A six year old girl Janine Lynn Colton died after falling into a cesspool at Sreezy Acres Trailer Park in Jamesville. District Attorney Francis Moran urged a county information campaign on underground sewer dangers and supported state health officials’ call for periodic cesspool inspections. The accident occurred while the girls played unsupervised, and rescue efforts failed after the nearby covering appeared rotten. Police noted many cesspools lack durable coverings and urged homeowners to inspect access hatches more regularly.
