State officials ordered into court on Medicaid

State Supreme Court Justice John J Farnham in Syracuse signed a show cause order directing Commissioner George K Wyman and Welfare Board Chairman Hugh Sones to appear in Albany Wednesday to explain why they should not be barred from approving or distributing funds under the new Medicaid program. The filing, led by John J Robinson of Camillus for the Citizens Committee for Responsible Government, seeks a review of the program including income eligibility criteria and accuses administrative discretion of abuse. The action aims to force a broader judicial review of Medicaid amid calls across the state for a unified action against the program.
