Weather Bureau says atomic tests unlikely to affect weather
The Weather Bureau told Congress that atomic explosions have not shown evidence of influencing weather beyond the blast area. Meteorologists Machta and Harris say effects outside test zones are negligible, with no clear link to dust or radiation altering global or regional climate.

January Academy Graduate Dies at 94
Mrs. Mabel Bemis Ranger, a January graduate of St Johnsbury Academy and widow of Rhode Island education official Walter E. Ranger, died yesterday after her family took her to Boston to study music. Private services were held at the nursing home where she lived. The Weather Bureau and Atomic Energy Commission studied weather links to atomic blasts, finding no solid connection and debunking cloud seeding or solar radiation effects as causes of drought or unusual weather.
