Two New Drugs Found Cure in Blood Clots
Mayo Clinic physician Dr. Edgar V. Allen reported at the American Medical Association centennial convention that two anti clotting drugs, heparin and dicumarol, markedly reduce fatalities from pulmonary embolism and decrease amputations from arterial embolism. In 329 pulmonary embolism cases, fatalities fell from 60 to 1. limb amputations dropped about 73 percent in arterial embolism. He noted 18 postpartum cases treated with the drugs saw no embolus.

Fugitives in German Town After Mannheim Jail Break
In Ludwigsburg a carload of escaped Mannheim jail prisoners broke through a roadblock early today. Shots were fired at Military Police as the fugitives sped away in a stolen colonel's car. It is believed most of the six prisoners at large were in the vehicle. two of the original eight captured earlier.
