Pyramid and state reach cleanup deal for Hess land
Pyramid Co. of Onondaga agrees to fund and oversee cleanup of low level petroleum contamination at the former Amerada Hess oil tank farm on Hawatha Boulevard as part of expanding Carousel Center with a Lord & Taylor store and more parking. The agreement, in Albany, avoids open-ended liability and requires soil and groundwater remediation, trenching near the state Barge Canal, and ongoing sampling to meet standards.

NYNEX to remove 1 in 315 toll calls this December
NYNEX will allow Syracuse area residents to dial seven digits for long distance within the 315 code starting December 17, removing the initial 1. An option to dial 1-315 remains to test toll status.
