Forecasters expect fair conditions tonight and tomorrow with a 30 percent rain chance. The Court also agreed to hear a case on banning drug paraphernalia sales to juveniles.
MILLEDGEVILLE GA AP Former U S Representative Carl Vinson dies at Baldwin County Medical Center after heart problems. Vinson served in Congress from 1914 to 1965, chaired the House Naval Affairs Committee 16 years and the Armed Services Committee 14 years, shaping naval power and defense policy.
Eleven year old Robert Bourg of Solvay arrives in Washington with family and coach for the National Spelling Bee. He won April’s Herald Journal Bee at Nottingham High School and shares a prize haul exceeding seven thousand dollars plus a color TV and other awards. He will compete with more than 100 contestants Wednesday morning. his total guaranteed prize is at least fifty dollars.
